Anyone can use kickboxing regardless of age, condition level, or size. Most people believe they need a background in self-defense in order to do kickboxing. This way, everyone will be satisfied with their workout without injury.
Kickboxing is very unique and targets many goals. It is an anaerobic and aerobic exercise that can be used for almost anyone.
The goals commonly associated with
kickboxing workouts are:
• Fat burning • Building muscle tone • Increase flexibility • Enhance agility • Increase speed • Develop core strength and coordination • Increase overall balance • Improve cardiovascular health
Other kickboxing goals include:
• Self-defense • Kickboxing as a sport
Besides core training, kickboxing is a very powerful way to enhance the nervous system and core muscles.
Kickboxing was originally intended to teach a person how to fight, or defend themselves, and not directly intended to get someone in shape. Later, people changed the direction and used kickboxing as a fun way to work out while getting fit and healthy making its true purpose secondary. Kickboxing can be instructed in three ways — either for fighting, fitness, or for both. This situation will be determined through what your client needs and wants. Kickboxing is a unique workout that is both anaerobic and aerobic. As most people say, it is a 2-in-1 workout that saves time. Furthermore, they are learning how to defend themselves.
As an aerobic exercise, kickboxing could be encouraged to be done over using a treadmill, elliptical, bicycle, or any other type of cardiovascular machinery. Kickboxing is considered more fun, and would create more consistency in training and cardio. Kickboxing is much more beneficial than the other cardiovascular exercises since it targets the muscle anaerobically. More muscles are being used with more intensity, while increasing the heart rate, which will then create a very high caloric burn. Kickboxing will make anyone tired due to the fact that it uses all energy systems, including ATP. Kickboxing uses atp-cp system, glycolytic system, and aerobic system. In order to burn fat you must deplete all three systems.
There are different methods of training. All methods are good in their own way. As far as trainer dependency and client interactions, focus mitts are the best. Drills are recommended for beginner clients, while combos are better for advanced clients.
• Focus Mitts Used for practicing combos, accuracy, speed, and eye coordination. This is the best way to mimic an actual fight. When using focus mitts, right punch must land on right hand focus mitt and vice versa.
• Punching Bags Used to practice power, resistance to fist and body, coordination for body mechanics.
• Muay Thai Focus Mitts Same as focus mitts but meant for more advanced clients. Gives you more pain resistance than focus mitts.
• Kicking Pad Used as a focus pad for kicking in practicing combos, accuracy, speed, and eye coordination.
Chisel your physique and burn between 700 to 1200 calories per hour! Kicking, punching and the cardio benefits makes this class a challenging yet fun way to get fit and toned, with a total body workout, unique and different that you can’t accomplish alone.
